FAST-GI
GI Panel
GI testing by molecular technique
Acute gastrointestinal illness (infectious diarrhea) is common, though in some cases can impose health risks. It is the second most common reason travelers returning from developing countries seek medical attention. Typically it is caused by ingestion of many different bacteria, viruses, parasites, and bacterial toxins presenting in episodes of vomiting and diarrhea.
Assessing GI health with proper diagnostic technology can help physicians determine the root cause of gastrointestinal illness. We use quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) to detect parasitic, bacterial, and viral pathogens accurately. With a high level of accuracy, sensitivity and specificity, this comprehensive testing panel targets and detects the organisms genomic material.
This sensitive and accurate testing allows physicians to create personalized treatment protocols to address infections that are urgent and accurately retest to verify how treatment modalities are working.
